ハーゲンダッツから出ている人気のチョコミント味を試してみることにした。蓋を開けてまず驚いたのは、ミントアイスのはずなのに、中身が真っ白だったことだった。
I decided to try the new chocolate mint ice cream from Häagen-Dazs, since it’s such a well-known brand. The first thing that surprised me when I opened the lid was that the ice cream was completely white, even though it was mint flavored.
やっぱり食べ物って、見た目の情報もすごく大事な部分を占めていると思う。せっかくチョコミントを食べるなら、あの爽やかな緑色を期待してしまうから、これは少しがっかりした。
I think visual appeal is actually a pretty important part of the experience. When I’m getting mint chocolate chip, I’m definitely expecting that classic, refreshing green color, so the white color felt a little disappointing to be honest.
味はもちろんハーゲンダッツだけあって、美味しくてクオリティは高かった。ただ、わたしが求めていたミントの突き抜けるような清涼感は、少し物足りなく感じてしまった。
Of course, being Häagen-Dazs, the flavor itself was delicious and high-quality. However, it lacked the strong, cool sensation of mint that I was really craving. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it just wasn’t the kind of chocolate mint I was looking for.
それにカップアイスだから、どこかに座って食べないといけないのもちょっと不便に感じた。これも最近試した別の商品に続いて、リピートはしないかな、という結論に至った。
On top of that, the fact that it’s a cup ice cream means I have to sit down to eat it, which feels a bit inconvenient. Just like another product I tried recently, I came to the conclusion that I probably wouldn’t be buying this one again.
色々試してみて、結局わたしのチョコミントの原点はセブンティーンアイスなんだと再認識した。子供の頃から慣れ親しんだあの味が一番。次は迷わずあれを食べようと思う。
After trying a couple of different options, I’ve realized that my go-to chocolate mint ice cream will always be Seventeen Ice. It’s the one I grew up with, so it feels like my personal standard. There’s no doubt about it; I’m definitely getting a Seventeen Ice next time.
