Outgrowing Past Connections: Evolving Friendships and Intellectual Stimuli

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

A former colleague from my hometown contacted me, and while I initially thought it was a nostalgic reach-out, my enthusiasm dampened when I learned her true agenda was a reference check request.

Although we used to have great chemistry—aided by her beauty and our shared roots—our conversation this time was stagnant and filled with awkward pauses.

I realized that I no longer find value in mere appearance; I now crave intellectual connection, which made it clear that we are no longer on the same wavelength.

While I don’t wish her ill, I have decided to curate my relationships more strictly, and she is someone I will likely not pursue a friendship with moving forward.

It is natural to outgrow people as we evolve, so I will stop clinging to past connections and instead focus on building a social circle that matches who I am today.

To be continued.
