Wagyu Burgers, Spotify Discoveries, and Mentorship Insights

あいにくの雨の中、後輩とランチへ。目当ての店は行列で断念したが、滑り込みで入った和牛100%のハンバーガー店で席を確保できた。

Despite the rain, I had lunch with a junior colleague, and though our first choices were packed, we managed to squeeze into a Wagyu burger joint just in time.

 

一皿2,000円、二人で4,000円という少し贅沢なランチになったが、正直なところ「これならマックで2,000円分食べた方が満足度が高いかも」と内心思ってしまった。

The lunch cost 4,000 yen for the two of us; honestly, the portion was small enough that I felt I might have been more satisfied spending half that at McDonald’s.

 

とはいえ、新しい店を開拓しなければこの気づきも得られなかったし、何よりガッツのある後輩との会話は、そんな不満を吹き飛ばすほど楽しかった。

However, the experience was worthwhile because conversing with such a driven young professional was truly refreshing and made me want to be a mentor they can rely on.

 

彼からSpotifyを使った情報収集術を教わり、音楽を聴くだけだったアプリにそんな活用法があったのかと、自分の固定観念を崩されたのは大きな収穫だ。

He introduced me to using Spotify for information gathering, which was a revelation as I had previously only viewed it as a platform for music and radio.

 

若手から刺激をもらい、自分も彼らに必要とされる人間でありたいと背筋が伸びる思いがした。今日教わったポッドキャストを、さっそく明日からのインプットに取り入れてみよう。

I am glad I invested the time and money; I plan to start using podcasts for input immediately to keep my perspective as fresh as theirs.
