Navigating a Lower Income and Boosting Savings After a Job Change

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I recalculated my regular expenses and savings based on my new salary.

With the job change, my monthly net income will decrease by over 300,000 yen. So if I continue spending without a proper budget like before, my savings could quickly disappear. To maintain a 20% savings rate from my monthly salary, I need to carefully manage my budget and expenses.

When I looked into it more closely, I realized it would be tough. For example, the cost of Shinkansen tickets and weekend leisure activities had a bigger impact on my budget than I expected.

Right now isn’t the best time for my family to spend freely. So I’ve decided to lower my standard of living in order to save as planned. This adjustment in lifestyle is an investment in my future—when I eventually return to an income level similar to my current position. I’m looking forward to that day.

To be continued.
