南栗橋の車両基地で開催された「東武ファンフェスタ」へ。主役は東武鉄道なのに、子供の強い希望で往路はJRを選択するという、なんとも天邪鬼なルートで現地入りした。
We visited the “Tobu Fan Fest” at the vehicle depot, but ironically, we took the JR line there at my child’s insistence, making the journey itself the highlight for him.
現地に着いてスーパーで腹ごしらえをした途端、「もう帰ろう」と子供が爆弾発言。電車の旅だけで満足してしまったようだが、「入場無料だから少しだけ！」と必死に説得して会場へ。
After a quick lunch, he suddenly wanted to head home, but I managed to coax him into the venue by promising a brief visit since admission was free.
中は想像を絶する大盛況で、以前行った貨物フェスとは桁違いの熱気だった。お目当てだった「スペーシアX」の靴は40分待ちの長蛇の列で、この人混みではあえなく購入を断念せざるを得なかった。
The crowd was overwhelming—far denser than the previous freight festival—so I had to give up on the 40-minute line for the “Spacia X” merchandise.
それでも、列に並ばずに見られる展示をサクサク回り、1時間弱で切り上げる作戦に変更。無理に完全制覇を目指さず、子供のペースに合わせて「いいとこ取り」をしたのが正解だったみたいだ。
We quickly pivoted our plan, skipping the long queues to breeze through the accessible exhibits in under an hour to avoid burnout.
最後は子供も満足げな顔を見せてくれたし、臨機応変に楽しむのが親子イベントのコツだね。次はもっと空いている穴場イベントを探して、ゆっくり鉄分補給しようと思う。
This flexible approach paid off, leaving my child satisfied and teaching me that sometimes the best way to enjoy an event is simply to go with the flow.
