I have added another fascinating destination to my bucket list: the Chuuk Islands (formerly Truk Lagoon), located south of Guam in the Pacific.
かつて日本が統治していた歴史があり、今でも日本語が通じるお年寄りがいるという親日的なこの島には、どこか懐かしい空気が流れているらしい。
Given its history under Japanese administration, the islands retain a nostalgic atmosphere where Japanese words are still understood, making them uniquely welcoming.
煌びやかなリゾート地とは対極にある、ひなびた静寂に包まれた場所で、文明の喧騒から離れた「何もしない贅沢」を味わってみたい。
Far from the glitz of typical resorts, I yearn to experience the luxury of doing nothing in such a rustic, quiet place that is truly off the beaten path.
特別なアクティビティは必要ない。ただ海を眺め、島時間のゆったりとしたリズムに身を委ねるだけで、人生の価値観が少し変わる気がする。
I don’t need special activities; simply gazing at the ocean and immersing myself in the slow “island time” would be enough to shift my perspective on life.
便利すぎる日常を少しの間手放して、過去と現在が交差するこの南の島で、心の洗濯をする日を夢見て計画を温めていこう。
I look forward to stepping away from my convenient daily routine to mentally recharge in this southern paradise where the past intersects with the present.
