Home Ramen Experiment, Disappointing Noodles, and the Lure of Professional Shops

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

Since my family had already finished dinner, I decided to treat myself to a casual “home ramen” session, using the thick Jiro-style noodles and seafood broth I’d picked up during my lunch break.

I cooked it up quickly and took the first sip; while the soup exceeded my expectations, the noodles were honestly underwhelming—a classic case of getting what you pay for, lacking the punchy satisfaction I was craving.

The total cost came to about 800 yen, and when I objectively weighed the preparation time and effort against the final result, I realized the cost-performance wasn’t much better than simply eating out.

“I should have just stopped by a shop on my way home,” I thought with a twinge of regret while washing the dishes, realizing the irony that trying to relax at home actually resulted in more work.

The next time I have a solo evening, I won’t hesitate to visit a professional establishment; it’s a better use of my time, and frankly, a top-tier bowl of ramen is the best fuel for the challenges ahead.

To be continued.
