昨日はスペーシアに揺られ、目星をつけていた浅草のNゲージスポットへ遠征してきた。
I took the Spacia limited express to Asakusa for an N-gauge model train expedition. I had a few spots in mind, though I navigated the day with flexibility.
まずは駅ビルの「ポポンデッタ」。チェーン店らしくコースはオーソドックスだが、レンタル車両の充実ぶりは目を見張る。何より幼稚園児でも運転させてもらえるハードルの低さは、子連れにはありがたい。
First, I visited “Popondetta” in Asakusa. As a major chain, the layout was a simple oval, but their rental fleet was impressive and kid-friendly—perfect for a preschooler’s debut.
次に向かった個人経営のレンタルレイアウト店では、常連のおじさんが気前よく子供に操作をさせてくれるという温かい交流があった。しかし、本来そこは未就学児NGの本格派。子供が本当にハマるなら、こうした「ルールとマナー」がある場所でどう遊ばせるか、場所選びの戦略が必要だと痛感した。
Next, we visited a private rental layout shop. While they usually have age restrictions, a kind regular let my child try the controls, which was a heartwarming highlight. However, finding high-quality layouts that welcome young children remains a logistical challenge.
そこで見つけた絶版の「夢空間北斗星」には、思わず心が動いた。懐かしさと、転売価値すら感じる希少性……。もし子供が本気でNゲージの道に進むなら、いつか手に入れてやりたい「大人のロマン」だ。
At the second shop, I spotted a discontinued “Yumekukai Hokutosei” set. The nostalgia and its potential resale value were tempting. If my child stays committed to this hobby, I might just have to invest in such a masterpiece.
一流の趣味は、親子の絆も、そして審美眼も磨いてくれる。次はどこで走らせようか。
Balancing a child’s curiosity with the technical world of N-gauge requires strategic planning, but seeing his excitement makes the search for the perfect track worthwhile.
