Churrasco, Family Drama, and Cherishing Deep Friendships

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

We held a gathering at a Churrasco restaurant in Shimbashi, where we were fortunate to be seated in a semi-private booth, allowing us to enjoy the all-you-can-eat meat and extensive salad bar without distraction.

However, the conversation turned serious when one friend shared that her relationship with her daughter had soured after the daughter returned home with her grandchild but refused to help with any housework or childcare.

My friend eventually reached her breaking point and snapped, causing a deep rift between them; hearing this made me realize that even blood ties shouldn’t come at the cost of one’s mental health.

It reinforced my belief that life is too short to force incompatible relationships, and that I should prioritize “depth” over “breadth” in my social circle.

I want to cherish this specific group of friends, with whom I can communicate openly and stress-free, rather than trying to please everyone.

To be continued.
