Perseverance and Professionalism: Lessons from a Dedicated Male Train Conductor

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

Today’s topic is a male train conductor who demonstrated perseverance against any disturbance and a strong commitment to his work.

He was always stationed at the end of the cruise train during the tour, so we first met when the train changed direction as I was near the first car. His constant smile made it easy to engage with him, and I thought his boss accompanying him facilitated our interaction.

Even though we talked to each other, he remained serious and didn’t neglect his duties. When the cruise train returned to Ueno Station, he was in charge of the announcement. Despite my attempts to distract him during his announcement, he completed his task flawlessly.

At first, I expected him to burst out laughing, but after witnessing his perseverance and strong dedication to his work, I realized the importance of staying focused. I don’t believe he could have finished his work if he wasn’t serious about it.

If it were the old me, I would have burst out laughing if faced with the same disturbance. However, I think I can handle it now and want to have confidence in myself.

To be continued.
