長男の英語教育について、友人に相談した。
I talked to one of my friends about how to teach English to kids.
その方はエジプトで一緒に仕事をしていた日本人で、お子さんが３人いる。
He was a colleague when I worked in Egypt and has 3 daughters.
全員をエジプトへ帯同し、現地のインターナショナルスクールに入れていたので、３人とも英語、アラビア語がペラペラである。
He had brought his wife and his children to Egypt from Japan. His children went to a German international school there and can speak German, English, and Arabic fluently.
なので、子供への英語教育の入りを参考にさせてもらうべく、相談した。
That’s the reason why I asked him to give me some advice about preschool linguistic education.
結果として、子供の英語は３歳からでOKとのこと。
He told me that you should start teaching English to the child when she/he is around 3 years old.
それ以前は、全くしておらず、日本語の勉強のみとの回答。
He also said that learning Japanese is necessary before learning English.
なので、まずは、日本語に注力することにした。
So, I decided to teach Japanese to my child first and read-aloud from Japanese picture books to him.
