Teaching Discipline: Navigating Kindergarten Refusals and Growing Up

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

After yesterday’s refusal to attend, I used our piggyback walk this morning as an opportunity to gently explain why going to kindergarten is non-negotiable.

He became slightly moody by the end, yet I sensed a shift in his attitude, suggesting that he was internalizing my message despite his resistance.

It seems he is beginning to emotionally comprehend a crucial social rule: that life involves not only seeking pleasure but also fulfilling one’s obligations.

Since one explanation is rarely enough, I plan to patiently repeat this lesson to help him cultivate a sense of discipline as his self-awareness grows.

Imparting these hard truths is a parent’s responsibility, and I trust that navigating these struggles together will ultimately build his resilience.

To be continued.
