Rethinking Lunch: Why I Prefer Skipping It on Weekdays

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I went to a restaurant with my colleague for lunch today. We had originally decided on the restaurant in advance, but when we got there, there was a line of customers waiting. Since we didn’t have time to wait, we picked up lunch boxes from a nearby food stand and ate outside.

The lunch box was pretty average, and the taste was okay—not great, but not bad either. A few hours later, while working, I started to feel hungry again, even more than I usually do when I skip lunch. Because of that, I had a hard time focusing on my work.

From experience, I don’t really see any advantage to eating lunch. I tend to feel sluggish and tired right after eating, and then get hungry again just a few hours later.

Even though eating lunch feels satisfying in the moment, I don’t think it brings any real benefit. That’s why I try to skip lunch on weekdays whenever possible. Instead, I’ll have breakfast if I feel the need to eat.

To be continued.
