Adventures in Ticketing: A Late-Night Train Dilemma

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

On my way back from the Kansai region two days ago, I took the sleeper express back home, similar to my outbound journey.

Originally, I had planned to buy a lunchbox from a convenience store for my dinner after boarding the train, as I had missed dinner due to engaging conversations at the Liberal Arts City Osaka Office.

However, upon rechecking my ticket, I discovered I had mistakenly taken the wrong dated ticket. By then, it was past 10 PM, and finding accommodation for the night was proving challenging.

Frantically searching online, I was fortunate to secure the last available ticket for a non-compartment space. After making the reservation, I confirmed the details with a clerk at the station and eventually boarded the sleeper train.

Although I had hoped to enjoy my lunchbox while taking in the view from the compartment room, that didn’t materialize. Instead, I settled for dinner on a bench at the station. Nonetheless, I was relieved to have finally boarded the train.

To be continued.
