今回の出張の一番の目的である、我々の出前授業の前日に同じく出前授業を行うNPO法人にお邪魔して、話を聞いてきた。
During this business trip, my main purpose was to visit an NPO office in the district. They were going to have a session the day before our session, so I took the opportunity to have a discussion with them.
彼は、コロナ以前から出前授業や市内の全中学生を対象としたフォーラムを文化会館などで開催し、地元の子供たちに積極的に支援活動をされている団体である。
I met with the leader of the organization, who explained to me that they’ve been actively supporting children in the city by holding sessions at schools and events at the cultural hall for students for many years, even before the pandemic.
その方に言われたのは、ただ１つ。中学生に教えるのに、キレイなパワーポイントや説明資料はいらない。一番重要なものは熱意である。
For our upcoming session, he offered a valuable piece of advice: we don’t need to create a formal presentation material for junior high school students. All we need to bring is our enthusiasm.
授業を行う我々が、どうして、なぜ授業に来たのか、なにを伝えたいのかが最も重要であり、それを説明するためのキレイな資料は一切いらないと。
He emphasized that the most important thing is why we are requesting this opportunity to speak at the school and what we want to convey to the students. He firmly believed that we don’t require any formal documents to explain these reasons.
わたしも、それをきいて完全同意。中学生が思うのは、その時の印象であり、資料の出来ではないからである。
After hearing his opinion, I wholeheartedly agreed with him. I share the belief that what will make the session memorable is the enthusiasm of the speakers, rather than the quality of the documents.
