昨日の報告を受けての感想。
After receiving the report yesterday, I’ve had some reflections.
本社から成果を求められたにもかかわらず、社長からは、会社の価値観を押し付けずに先方の気持ちになって対応してください、と言ってくれた。
While I was hoped for more achievements to secure approval for the extra budget for my project, my country manager advised me to focus on working in harmony with the local residents and not imposing our company’s values on them.
これは正直、とてもいいことなのではないかと思う。
I found his advice very helpful and comforting.
本来、会社と戦わなければならないのはわたしも同じである中で、非常に心強い仲間なのではないかと。
Naturally, as a project manager, I have had my share of disagreements with the HQ. Having my country manager as a reassuring ally is invaluable.
とくに、いまは外国人と英語で交渉を進めていかなければならない中、わたしのそこまで上手ではない英語では、限界が低い。そこをカバーしてくれて、かつ自分の熱意や思いを汲み取ってくれる仲間に巡り合えた気がした。
Especially considering my limitations in negotiating with them in English, as we must communicate in English with foreigners, my country manager can bridge that gap. He understands my perspective and enthusiasm, and I feel like I have found an ally within the company.
