Reflections on the Office Administrator’s Resignation and Managerial Decisions

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I worked at the office today.

I came across some news in the meeting materials for the monthly all-staff meeting. It was about the office administrator resigning from her position.

I initially thought that she had decided not to renew her contract, as our branch manager had mentioned that we were planning to hire another administrator to have two of them.

However, when I discussed this with her, she informed me that it was the company’s decision not to renew her contract. What bothered her more was that there was no prior notice from the manager; she learned about it through the temp agency.

I find it challenging to accept such a decision from our branch manager. Even if being a manager sometimes requires making tough decisions, I believe there should have been better communication. If the manager had decided not to renew her contract, he could have spoken to her earlier, allowing her to prepare for her next job. Lately, my trust in the manager has waned, and I’m beginning to reconsider my immediate future with the company.

To be continued.
