久しぶりに昔の友人に連絡してみた。
I recently reached out to an old friend whom I hadn’t contacted in a while.
というのも、以前聞いた話では、旅館の経営を友人とやっているということだったので、もしそれが続いているようなら、家族で遊びに行きたいと思って連絡した。
I remembered hearing some time ago that he was running a traditional Japanese inn with a friend. I was excited to inquire about the inn and possibly plan a visit with my family.
ただ、残念ながら、今日の話では、経営されていた旅館はすでに閉鎖されてしまい、普通のサラリーマンに戻っているとのこと。
However, to my disappointment, he informed me that the inn had already closed down and he had returned to working as a businessman.
ただ、都内で仕事をされているというので、今度久しぶりに会おうという話になった。お互いの近況報告もあるし、彼は数少ない転職してキャリアを築いている人なので、貴重な意見を聞いてみたい。
Despite this, he extended an invitation for us to meet up in Tokyo for some drinks. I saw this as a great opportunity for us to reconnect and catch up with each other. I hold my friend in high regard because he has successfully built his career through job changes, which is not something many people can accomplish. When we meet, I’m eager to hear his perspective and insights on career transitions.
