いつもの公園に行ったら、外国人の親子が遊んでいた。
When I went to the park with my son as usual, a foreign father and his daughter were playing.
せっかくなので声をかけてみると、近くの中学校のALTの先生でアメリカ人だった。
Since I saw them, I talked to him. He is an American and works as an Assistant Language Teacher at a junior high school.
幸い、子供たちも仲良く遊んでくれたので、その先生と英語で話をすることができた。
Fortunately, I enjoyed talking to him as my son and his daughter played together.
久しぶりの外国人との会話に緊張するも、なんとか場をもたせることができた。
Even though I was a little nervous about talking to a foreigner for the first time in a while, I was able to speak to him while staying at the park.
お互いに好印象で話を終えることができ、また次回、同じ公園で会うことを伝えた。もし、関係が続いて友達になれたらわたしにとっても、長男にとってもいい話である。
Though my son still can’t speak either Japanese or English, his daughter cared for my son. Before leaving the park, I told him I come to the park on weekends. If I became a friend of his, it would be a great opportunity for both my son and me.
