今日から夏休みである。
My summer vacation has started.
初日ということで、景気づけにラーメンを食べに行ってきた。
To celebrate this year’s summer vacation, I went to a ramen shop today.
わたしが好きなチェーンのラーメン屋で、エジプトへ行っていた頃は、帰国日と出国日は必ず訪れていた場所である。
This is my favourite ramen chain restaurant. When I worked in Egypt, I made sure to visit the shop on the departure and/or arrival date in Japan.
しかし、いまはクルマがないため、ほとんど訪れることはない。
However, I haven’t been there recently since I sold my car.
今日は１時間かけて自宅から歩いて行ってきた。
Today I visited their nearest shop from my apartment which was an hour away on foot.
味は変わらずであったが、値段が当時と比べ20%ほど高くなっていた。
The taste of my favourite ramen had not changed a bit, but the price had increased by about 20%.
インフレとはいえ、この値上げは許容し難いと感じ、当時ほどの感動はなかった。
Even though it is a byproduct from the acceleration of inflation due to the pandemic and Russo-Ukrainian war, the price was unacceptable to me.
