昨日の出社時、エジプトでお世話になった先輩のところに挨拶にいってきた。
This was yesterday’s story when I went and saw my Japanese senior who worked with me in Egypt.
その人もコロナ禍で日本に戻り、現在はわたしとは違うプロジェクトであるものの同じバングラデシュのプロジェクトに参画している。
He came back to Japan because of the COVID-19 pandemic and was assigned to a project in Bangladesh that is different from mine.
先輩はエジプト勤務の際、家族帯同での駐在であった。そして、その子供が今年から中学校に上がったという。
He took his family to Egypt and his daughter is a junior high school student now.
子供の希望に合わせ、帰国子女向けの学校に通わせているものの、周りは欧米からの帰任者が多く、エジプトからの人は彼の子供しかいない。
Taking into consideration her opinion, he lets her go to a private school for returnees. However, almost all returnee students are from the US or Europe and his daughter is the only returnee from Egypt.
そのため、いじめられたりしているそう。
Because of that, she is sometimes left out.
そんなことで、いじめが起きてしまう環境にやるせない気持ちになった。
After hearing about his daughter’s circumstances, I’m really having a hard time.
