毎月１日は、丸亀製麵での釜揚げうどん半額の日。知ってはいたけど、到着するまでずっと忘れていた。
We can get Kama-age udon at a 50% discount on the first day of every month at Marugame Seimen. Even though I knew about the promotion, I completely forgot about it until we arrived at the restaurant.
2/1、休みだったのと、子供が地元の駅で電車を見たいというので、久しぶりに新幹線には乗らずに電車鑑賞。やっぱりここで鑑賞するのが、一番貨物列車がくる。時刻表にも載っていないものも来て、思っていた以上にたくさんの列車が来た。
It was the weekend on February 1st, and my son asked me to watch trains at the station near our apartment. So, we decided to watch the trains at the station without taking the Shinkansen. As usual, when watching trains at the station near our apartment, we tend to see the freight trains most frequently. Today, a freight train that wasn’t listed on the timetable also came, and we were able to watch more trains than we expected.
列車を見た後、お昼を食べようと相談すると、久しぶりにうどんが食べたいと子供にせがまれる。今日は、この後ヘルメットを買いに行く用事もあったので、サクッと食べられるうどんは賛成。オープンしたての丸亀製麵に行くとすでに行列が。
After watching the trains, my son wanted to eat udon. Since we had planned to visit a cycling shop in the afternoon to buy his helmet, I agreed to his request. Although the udon restaurant had just opened, there was a line of people waiting.
理由はお店についてからわかった。それは、釜揚げうどん半額デーだということ。前にいる人のほとんどが釜揚げうどんを注文。別々のうどんを頼もうとしていたわたしたちも２人で１つの大きな釜揚げうどんをチョイス。安くできた分、いつもより１つ多く天ぷらを選んで食べた。
I realized the reason for the line when we arrived—it was the day for the 50% discount on Kama-age udon. Most people in the line had ordered Kama-age udon. Originally, we had planned to order another kind of udon that wasn’t on sale, but we decided to order one large Kama-age udon to share. With the money we saved, we also ordered two tempura toppings, with one extra compared to usual.
最近、こうした何気ない日常がとても楽しい。
Recently, these small moments of happiness like this make me really happy.
