PMP Study Group Meetup: Career Advice and New Insights

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I had drinks with the members of my Project Management Professional study group.

Although I didn’t drink at the party, it was still an enjoyable evening. In addition to the usual members, a few newcomers joined, which made it even more exciting for me.

During the gathering, I shared updates about my job change process. Since most of the attendees work in the IT industry, they were well-informed about the role I’m applying for, and I was able to hear some practical opinions from them.

Interestingly, all of them advised against pursuing the role. Their main reasons were that the position might not provide a strong sense of achievement and could be stressful, as I’d have to deal with customer complaints directly.

However, I already handle complaints in my current job—some landowners even bring unreasonable demands—so I don’t think customer complaints at the new role would be intimidating for me. As for the sense of achievement, I believe it depends on how I set and approach my KPIs. To address this concern, I plan to confirm during the interview whether there’s an opportunity to get involved in pre-sales tasks, even though the role is primarily post-sales.

To be continued.
