You can hear the voice recording for the diary.
I visited a shisha café with a former senior colleague from my time working in Egypt. Since he recently received a job offer for his next role, we took the opportunity to catch up.
His new position is as the head of the overseas division at a Japanese company. From my perspective, it’s a role that suits him perfectly. I couldn’t help but feel a bit envious—I also want to find the ideal job for myself.
When I mentioned my current job interview with an IT company, he strongly encouraged me to pursue the opportunity. He pointed out that joining the company would be a great way to develop my skills, even without a concrete strategy, by actively studying and learning new things. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of improving my social skills, as they are crucial in any role.
He also shared his thoughts on the future of work, explaining that AI will soon replace many tasks currently done by humans. As a result, people will need to focus on working more creatively or taking on managerial roles to lead teams. With the working landscape evolving so rapidly, he said that exploring a new industry could be a great decision for me.
He’s one of the most trustworthy people I know, so his advice carries a lot of weight. Now, I’m determined to give this job my best shot if I receive an offer. First, though, I need to ace the final interview scheduled for the day after tomorrow.
To be continued.
