Lunch with a Former Colleague: Reflecting on the Future and Career Choices

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I had lunch with a former colleague from my first company.

It was our first time meeting in two years, and I couldn’t help but think about how quickly time flies. We caught up while enjoying Hamburg steak at our favorite restaurant.

During our conversation, I asked him to show me the actual system provided by the company I’m applying to. He mentioned that the system is very user-friendly and has a good reputation among his colleagues compared to the existing one.

If the system were poor, it would make dealing with customers as a post-sales manager much more challenging. However, with a well-designed system, handling customer interactions might not be so bad. While trying out the system myself, I noticed one concern: its potential for further development.

I couldn’t think of any additional features to improve the system, as it already seemed complete. While this might suggest the system doesn’t require further enhancements, it also makes me wonder how challenging it would be to achieve significant goals in the role. On the other hand, overcoming such challenges could bring a strong sense of accomplishment. I’m still debating whether I should join the company or not.

To be continued.
