After receiving the final price for my GT-R, I contacted the dealer where I originally purchased it.
However, they didn’t take my concerns seriously. As minimal compensation, they offered to cover the cost of the engine oil replacement they had neglected to perform. Still, I couldn’t accept this and consulted a lawyer. The lawyer explained that under Japanese law, there is no provision for consolation money in such cases.
Even if a memorable or significant item—like classic furniture or pets—is unintentionally damaged, the offender is only obligated to cover the cost of recovery and has no further responsibility.
In my case, the dealer is only required to pay for the oil replacement fee, which they had already proposed.
Although I find this hard to accept, I’ve decided to stop wasting my time dealing with them since there’s no further positive outcome to be gained. I will cut ties with such vendors, never look back, and focus on moving forward.
To be continued.
