My Weekend Gastroscopy

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

Even though it was Saturday, I had my regular medical check-up. Since the only available day for a gastroscopy appointment was today, I had no choice but to schedule it on the weekend.

Thankfully, I worked from home yesterday and was able to finish dinner before the 9:00 PM cutoff for the check-up preparation.

My appointment was early in the morning, and the reception area was already crowded with other patients. However, the check-up went smoothly, and before I knew it, the moment I was dreading had arrived.

The gastroscopy examination room was on the upper floor, so I had to climb the stairs to get there. As I reached the floor and spotted the room, my anxiety grew—I really didn’t want to go in. To make things worse, the waiting line was short, and my turn came before I had a chance to fully prepare myself mentally.

Although the gastroscopy itself only takes about five minutes, my feelings about it haven’t changed. If I could avoid it, I’d rather not go through it at all. It’s tough to imagine doing this every year. However, I know I’d regret it if I were to develop any serious health problems because I avoided the examination.

To be continued.
