Today was my son’s birthday.
Coincidentally, he was on autumn break from kindergarten, so I took the day off to spend time with my family. When I asked him what he wanted to do, he said he wanted to watch freight trains at Saitama-Shintoshin Station. So, as per his request, we went there. It was the first time in a while that we’d gone train-watching on a weekday.
For lunch, he wanted ramen, so we went to our usual ramen shop at the station. However, their ticket machine was out of order, so we couldn’t eat there. Instead, we went to another ramen shop in the shopping mall on the other side of the station for his birthday lunch.
When we got home, he found his birthday present—a Kintaro freight train toy. He was even happier than I expected, which made me happy too. Of course, since he loved playing with his new Kintaro train, we ended up staying up later than usual.
To be continued.
