次の候補先企業の日本支社副社長兼開発部長とのカジュアル面談。
I had an informal chat with the Vice President and the Head of Project Development at the company I’m considering.
見た目や経歴に反して、非常に物腰柔らかな人当りに、とてもよい印象を受ける。
Despite his impressive background and appearance, I found him to be a really nice person with great character and a gentle manner. I liked him.
しかし、業務内容がちょっと微妙な感じ。ガシガシ開発をやっていくのではなく、あくまでサブのポジションでメインの開発事業者にくっついて洋上風力を実施していく考え。かつ、電気エンジニアがいないので、そのタスクが多いのが明らかにわかる。
However, I have some concerns about the role. The company doesn’t focus on project development on its own; they plan to take a secondary role in offshore wind development with a joint venture partner. Additionally, since they don’t have an electrical engineer, I’m aware that I’ll need to take on tasks related to electrical matters.
実務経験がない中、コンサル風情で案件の軌道修正をしていかなければならず、ちょっと荷が重いと思う。電力分野だけならできなくもないけど、洋上風力に関しての知識、日本の法規制の動向チェックなどをしなければならない。
Although I don’t have experience in offshore wind energy, it seems I’ll need to manage projects like a consultant, which is a significant responsibility. Even if I can handle projects related to electrical topics, I’ll also need to learn and manage them from the perspective of offshore wind energy and the Japanese grid code—both of which I’m not familiar with.
とりあえず、行けるところまで面接はやってみて、行くかどうかは最後に判断したい。
Anyway, I’ll give it a shot and decide what to do when I get a formal offer. I’ll consider my options carefully until the very last minute.
