I met up with a local subcontractor in my hometown for drinks.
He’s a senior colleague whom I worked with at my first company, and this was our first time meeting up outside of work. I made a reservation at a Chinese restaurant near my station, owned by Chinese nationals. The atmosphere reminded me of my time in Egypt, where everyone—except for us—was Chinese. It brought back memories of my experiences there.
The cuisine at the restaurant was delicious, and I enjoyed every dish, especially since garlic was a common ingredient in all of them.
During our conversation, I took the opportunity to share with him my decision to leave my current job. I emphasized that our professional relationship will continue into my next position, and I expressed my intention to maintain our connection for potential future collaborations. While we haven’t yet been able to secure contracts with them, I hope to reciprocate their support in the future.
To be continued.
