On my way home from my business trip to my project site, I stopped by the Liberal Arts City Miyagi Office to attend a meet-up for freelancers and business owners.
There were over 20 attendees, making it a larger gathering than I had anticipated. While it was enjoyable, the discussion mainly revolved around exchanging pleasantries, and I gleaned only a few beneficial business ideas. Consequently, I wasn’t able to gather much information about their respective businesses.
After the meet-up, I spoke with another member about my impressions of the event. She expressed skepticism about how many people actually earn enough money to sustain themselves independently.
While becoming a freelancer is often seen as the right choice within Liberal Arts City, there’s uncertainty about how many freelancers actually generate sufficient income to support themselves. She mentioned that some individuals end up returning to office jobs for financial reasons.
I plan to delve deeper into this issue during future meet-ups. However, it’s unfortunate that it’s much easier for me to engage with members at the Tokyo Office, as I’m acquainted with some who have successfully established their own businesses.
To be continued.
