Navigating the Interview: Lessons from a Multilingual Encounter

今日は、先週予定されていた転職面接の2次面接。今回はアジア統括部長で、韓国人との英語面接。初めての通しでの英語面接だったが、なんとかやりきった。

I had the second round of my interview for the company I’m applying to. The interviewer was a Korean gentleman, the APAC manager at the company, and the interview was conducted in English. Although this was my first time having an entire interview in English, I was able to answer all of his questions.

 

面接官もゆっくり話してくれたので、緊張しすぎることなく終われた。練習というよりも、これまでの英語日記が功を奏した結果だったと思う。

He spoke slowly, which helped alleviate some of the pressure, and I managed to finish the interview without feeling overwhelmed. This experience taught me that the result is not only influenced by practice but also by consistently writing in my English diary.

 

なぜなら、これまでとは異なり、わたしの性格、適正を判断するため、PJに起こる問題をテーマに自分のPJで実際に起こったらどうするかの回答が3問あった。

What stood out to me were some of his unique questions. He asked about how I would handle three different scenarios in a project where I might encounter difficulties, aiming to understand my characteristics and management skills.

 

これは予測できなかったし、予測できたとしてもPJでの問題は千差万別。100%の回答を準備しておくのは不可能なので、まさにとっさの英語力が出たと言える。

I hadn’t anticipated such questions, as project management inevitably brings about a wide range of challenges. It’s impossible to prepare answers for every possible obstacle. However, I relied on my potential English skills to articulate my responses.

 

面接官はいい人そうだったし、転職するのもありではないかと思い始めた。いずれにしても、行けるところまでいきたい。

Overall, I found him to be a pleasant person, and it reaffirmed my desire to join the company. Regardless, I’m eager to continue tackling the challenges of the interview rounds.
