昨日の続き。
Expanding on my reflections from yesterday’s meet-up at the national sports hall:
初めてのオフ会に参加するときには、参加者のプロフィールをよく見ておくこと、その人のキーになる部分は事前にメモしておくことが肝要だと感じた。
I’ve come to realize the importance of a couple of key tasks when meeting people for the first time: thoroughly reading their profiles and jotting down key points for easy recall.
なぜなら、それを実際に行動している人がいて驚愕した。しかも、わたしより一回り以上も年上、かつ、個人でビジネスをされている人だった。
It was surprising and impressive to see someone who diligently did this at yesterday’s meet-up, especially considering he was more than ten years my senior and running his own business.
やはり、個人でビジネスをしていく以上、人とは違ったことをやっていくことが重要なんだと、彼を見て感じた。自分のプロフィールについて質問されて、悪いと感じる人はいないだろうし、わたしはとても嬉しかった。
Encountering him made me recognize the significance of setting oneself apart when running a business. Asking about someone’s profile doesn’t have to be an annoyance; at least, I found it to be a positive experience.
最後に笑い話を１つ。帰りの新幹線でケータイの電池が切れてしまった。モバイルSuicaを使っていたので、改札を抜けられるか不安だったけど、電池が足らないマークが出ている間は使えることを知った。
To wrap up, here’s a funny anecdote: My cellphone battery died while I was on the Shinkansen on my way home. I was worried about passing through the ticket gate at my station since my tickets were on my prepaid card in my phone app. However, I managed to get through the gate, discovering that the cellphone works until it displays the low battery message.
