Addressing Compensation Discrepancies in Light of Office Working Hour

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I stopped by the law firm on my way home to seek advice on a particular issue.

It was my first time visiting a law firm, and I wanted to discuss a matter for both my immediate understanding and for future reference.

The issue at hand is related to the recent change in office working hours, which resulted in an increase, yet my company didn’t adjust my contract or compensate for this change. I sought legal advice on how to approach and resolve this issue.

Naturally, I’m seeking compensation for the difference. What’s particularly frustrating is that despite my country manager initially indicating a salary adjustment after the new office rules were implemented, he retracted that proposal. I’m quite upset with him about this.

The lawyer explained that the company isn’t obligated to cover commuting fees for its employees, meaning I may not have a legal option to claim the difference. However, he did suggest I negotiate with my manager using his advice and acknowledge my accomplishments at the office. Despite his being younger than me, I found his counsel reliable and reassuring. It was good to have sought his guidance.

To be continued.
