今朝、遅くまで寝ていると妹から電話が。どうやら今日の昼に兄が実家にくるらしい。
I received a phone call from my sister while I was still in bed, trying to catch up on some sleep. She mentioned that our older brother would be visiting our parents’ house.
とくに予定はなかったものの、母が入院していて実家に行っても仕方ないと思っていたけど、妹家族も行くというので、行ってきた。
Despite explaining that it might not be practical as our mother is in the hospital, I eventually decided to visit since my sister and her family were also going.
想定していた通り、とくに何をするわけでもなく、会合は終わった。
As anticipated, there wasn’t much happening at home; we simply gathered for lunch.
その後、病院にいる母から電話があった。お見舞いに来た父から事情を聞いたらしく、いろいろ言いたいことがあったよう。
Later on, I received another call from my mother at the hospital while I was engrossed in my side hustles. It seemed she had gotten wind of the family reunion happening today from my father and shared the same reservations as I did.
実際にその場にいたうちらでも訳がわからなかったから、母が疑問を持つのも無理はない。
None of us at the lunch reunion understood the sudden return of our brother today, so it was understandable that our mother had some concerns about this unexpected event.
