一昨日の帰り、いっしょの車で参加した方と人生論の話になった。その人は、まだ自分のやりたいことが明確に見つかっていないとのこと。
Two days ago, I had a conversation with a friend on the way back from a meet-up where we enjoyed taro soup. We discussed our views on life, and she shared that she hasn’t yet discovered her life’s purpose.
一方で、獣医であることから、わたしがサラリーマンの最終ゴールとする国境なき医師団への入隊希望を伝えると、”なぜそんなに思い入れがあるのか？”と聞かれた。
She was curious about my strong emotional connection to Doctors Without Borders when I mentioned my interest in joining them to fulfill my goals.
これまで、わたしは興味を持ったものは直接、自分の目で確認して、巻き込まれてきた。初めて入社した会社でも海外事業部がなにをやっているのかを体験してきたおかげで、今の自分がある。
I explained to her that I have always been actively engaged in pursuing my interests and seeking experiences. In my past job, I worked in the overseas division and got to witness firsthand the impactful work they do around the world. These experiences have played a significant role in shaping who I am today.
世界の最前線で活躍する彼らの一員となってみたい、という思いを伝えた。自分の夢を伝えることで、なにかのきっかけになればと思う。
I shared my motivation with her, expressing my desire to be part of a team that operates at the forefront of global challenges. I hope that my aspirations might inspire her to explore her own goals and passions.
と、高邁な思想は置いといて、その友達と別れ際に、リクエストしてドラマであるような新幹線ホームでの別れを疑似体験してきた。よくわからないけど、２人してメッチャ笑っての別れになった。この冗談は、今後も使えると確信した。
On a lighter note, I mentioned a fun and light-hearted experience that is akin to waving at Shinkansen as they pass by in TV dramas. There’s something inexplicably amusing about it. When my friend and I waved our hands as she left the platform with the Shinkansen, we both burst into laughter. I’m convinced that this little joke could brighten the day of many other people as well.
