Exploring the Depths of Electrical Systems: A Study Session

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

Today was a national holiday, and I took the opportunity to have an extra study session with my former senior colleague.

During our session, I asked him to explain how to connect the generated electricity to the tertiary side of the transformers, which are operated by the electricity power company.

While this topic was a gap in my knowledge, I quickly learned that connecting to the tertiary side of transformers, although done at some substations, is challenging. The nominal voltage for the tertiary side is slightly higher than the standard 66kV networks, making customer-ordered equipment mandatory. Additionally, due to differences in electrical wiring, external facilities like ground transformers are needed to supply electricity to the national grid.

My understanding of electrical systems is already quite deep, but I realized that the complexity runs even deeper than I had initially thought. It became apparent that I may not be able to handle this on my own.

To be continued.
