昨日は、エジプトでお世話になったPMがわたしの勤める会社に来て、社長との面接となった。
My senior, who used to work with me in Egypt, visited my office, and my branch manager and I conducted an interview with him.
１時間、支社長とお世話になった先輩とが話をしているのを横で聞いていた。終わった後、いっしょに先輩と食事にいったが、あまり印象はよくなかった模様。
I was present in the meeting room during their conversation for about an hour. After the interview, I had lunch with my senior, and he mentioned that he didn’t have a positive impression of my company.
たしかに、わたしも見ていて、やりとりがなんともぎこちないというか、お互いに遠慮している感じがあった。それは、先輩もそうしていたようだし、たぶん、支社長もそうしていたのだろう。
I shared the same sentiment with him. The conversation between my senior and my branch manager seemed awkward, and both of them hesitated to express their thoughts honestly.
やはり、人を紹介するって大変なことだと学んだ。今回のはナイストライと捉えることにして、次からはもっと慎重になろうと思う。というか、サラリーマンを卒業して自分で雇えるくらいになりたい。
Today’s experience taught me that introducing friends to others can be a challenging and delicate matter. I want to acknowledge myself for attempting to help my senior, but I also realize the importance of being cautious in such situations. Moving forward, I aspire to become someone capable of hiring people on my own.
