A Former Colleague’s Journey Towards Retirement and Job Change

You can hear the voice recording for the diary.

I introduced my former colleague from Egypt, who had worked with me, to my current branch manager.

During our weekly study session, my senior informed me that he would be reaching retirement age this year. Although his company has offered him the opportunity to continue working as a project manager in Egypt under the reemployment system, he expressed his desire to return to Japan.

Considering the possibility that negotiations with his company may not go as planned, he mentioned that he is considering changing jobs. In response, I offered to introduce him to my branch manager.

My branch manager attentively listened to my introduction, but he explained the current situation at our company and described the ideal candidate they were looking to hire, which slightly differed from the qualifications of my senior. I sensed that it would be challenging to reach a contractual agreement.

To be continued.
