なにも考えず、いつものように電車が見える公園に長男といってみると、昨年末に会った外国人の親子が遊んでいた。
As part of our routine, I took my son to the park near the railway, and to my surprise, we ran into the foreign family we had seen at the end of last year.
５か月近く会っていなかったので、てっきり彼らはわたしたちのことを忘れてしまったかと思っていたが、そんなことはなかった。話しかけたら覚えていてくれた。
Considering that it had been about 5 months since our last encounter, I thought they might have forgotten about us. However, they remembered us when I approached them, which made me happy.
ようやく再会できて、とてもうれしかった！ゆっくり話がしたかったが、逆に長男のほうが、彼の子供と遊んだことを忘れたのか、いっしょに遊ばず、わたしの周りにいて、そのアメリカ人の方となかなか話せなかった。
I was looking forward to talking with the father, but my son didn’t show much interest in playing with their daughter because he had forgotten about them. Despite the daughter’s invitation to play together, my son preferred to stay close to me.
とはいえ、今日会うことができたのは非常に大きい。前回の後悔を無駄にしないために、解散する前に、お互いの連絡先を交換した。
Nevertheless, it was a significant event for us. Learning from my mistake last time, I made sure to exchange contact information with the father before leaving the park.
欲を言えば、彼の名刺が欲しかったが、今日は持っていないとのこと。名前を忘れてしまったので、もう一度聞きたかった。交換したLINEの名前は違そうなので、また次回あったときに聞いてみる。
Ideally, I wanted to obtain his business card to know his name, but he didn’t have it with him this time. Since I had forgotten his name, having his card would have been helpful. Perhaps his name on LINE is different, so I will ask him again when we meet next time.
