今日は前職でお世話になった２人と飲みに行った。
I had drinks with two of my ex-co-workers from my previous company tonight.
社内の内向きな話ばかりで面白くなく、しかも選んだお店の料理もおいしくなかったので、ちっとも楽しくなかった。
However, the conversation revolved around internal issues within their current company, which didn’t interest me. Furthermore, the food wasn’t enjoyable. Taking everything into consideration, the dinner experience wasn’t pleasant.
前の会社でなにが起ころうがわたしには全く関係のないことだし、そんな話を聞かされても、なんの得にもならない。
At this point, I no longer care about what’s happening in their company. There are no benefits for me in obtaining that information.
なので決めた。もう金輪際、前の会社にいる人とは飲みにはいかないと。わたしのように、退職して別の会社で働いている人となら行ってもいいが、とどまっている人とはいかない。
As a result, I have made a decision. I will no longer go out for drinks with current employees from my previous company. If someone who has left the company invites me, I will gladly join them. However, I will decline invitations from those who are still employed there.
なお、ランチであれば時間も限られているのでよしとする。
On the other hand, having lunch with them is still acceptable since it can be done within a limited time frame.
