Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event, is approaching, and I noticed advertisements for Ehomaki (thick sushi rolls) at supermarkets and convenience stores. Setsubun is associated with bean eating and bean throwing to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck for the year.
Last year, we enjoyed the rolls we bought from a nearby supermarket. This year, I went to the high-end supermarket at the station building to see if they offer Ehomaki.
They are currently accepting pre-orders for rolls priced at 2,000 yen. The advertisement mentions that these rolls are made with high-quality seafood.
While I appreciate the quality of their rolls, I feel that it would be a bit wasteful to eat them all at once without savoring each individual seafood ingredient.
When I have a nice meal, I like to enjoy each serving separately. I will discuss with my wife and consider buying their sushi on another occasion.
To be continued.
