先日、英語の勉強方法について質問をしてきた先輩と食事をしてきた。
I had lunch with my senior who asked me about how to study English before.
退職することを伝えると、それほど驚いてはなかった。
He wasn’t very surprised about my resignation.
その人も会社での非効率さには呆れているが、それでも転職をするまでの気力はなく、今の会社になんとかしがみついていくことを考えているとのこと。
Even though he was sick of the inefficiency of the internal procedures in the company, he had no energy to find a new job and was thinking that he would be sticking with the company until his retirement.
また、転職で年収がダウンしてしまうのではないか、ということも気にしていた。
In addition, he was concerned about the decrease in his salary after changing jobs.
たしかに、そういう不安な面もあるが、実際にやってみないことにはわからない。

今の会社で劇的に変わることが望めないのであれば、転職をするのは手だと思うし、年齢など関係ないと思うと伝えたが、あまり響いているようには感じなかった。
If we can’t assume that the circumstances would change drastically, I think job change is one of the solutions and age does not matter. I explained my feelings but it didn’t strike his heart.
